Dawn Anthony

Dawn is a North Carolina-based singer, music educator, author, and playwright. Dawn enjoys artistic collaborations to build bridges across cultures, languages, and generations. Her children’s musical, The Gift Way Up in the Closet, premiered at the Fullwood Theater in Matthews, North Carolina in 2019, based on her children’s book of the same name. Dawn has shared tribute concerts for JazzArts Charlotte honoring the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson. A collaboration that is particularly important to Dawn is a project with Greg Jarrell (local performer, activist and friend) called A Riff of Love. based on Greg Jarrell’s book of the same title. The program interweaves music, stories, and visual art. This evolving program aims to inspire listeners and participants to create an atmosphere of justice and belonging. Dawn is a graduate of Queens University of Charlotte with a bachelor's degree in music.
