Student Highlight: Elijah Chen

Arts+ is proud to shine the spotlight on student Elijah (Eli) Chen! Eli is the 2018-2019 Charlotte Music Club Scholarship winner. He is especially honored to be the principal cellist for the Preparatory Orchestra of the Youth Orchestras of Charlotte. The Preparatory Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra that performs pieces geared to advance younger players and train them for the Youth Orchestra of Charlotte. This orchestra is made up of students Grades 4-9 from Charlotte and the surrounding areas.

Eli is 11 years old and a student at Carmel Christian School. He started with Arts+ at the age of five and studied for five years with Victoria McLaughlin. Most recently, he has been studying with Alan Black. Eli says he has been grateful to study with two outstanding teachers and musicians, and they have been a great inspiration to him. We are so proud of Eli’s success and cannot wait to hear more from him as he grows as a musician.
