Discovering Drawing and Painting

  • Wednesdays from Feb. 12 to March 19
  • Arts+ Community Campus
  • $125

Class Description

This 6-week class for grades K-2 will introduce the basics of painting and drawing to young artists. We will go over the elements and principles of art to create a strong foundation of art understanding. Students will learn about famous historic and contemporary artists and talk about how to analyze art and how it makes us feel. Students will learn a variety of mark making techniques and materials and explore watercolor and acrylic paint.

No experience is required for our Discovering classes, and we encourage a willingness to try new things and make mistakes. By the end of the class, students will have confidence in creating their own art, talking about the art they’ve made and art created by others, and be willing to try new things in the creative process! Students with some experience can also take this class, and we will tailor the projects to be individualized for their level.
