Constituent Privacy Policy

With a commitment to providing outstanding and accessible arts education, Arts+ strives to maintain a standard of respect and confidentiality for its program registrants, parents of students, and donors that make that mission possible. Arts+ has put in place a Constituent Privacy Policy to honor those privacy rights.

Constituent Information
Arts+ collects and maintains constituent information found in public domain, as well as the following types of constituent information that are voluntarily provided to us:

  • Contact information such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
  • Giving and program registration information.
  • Information on events attended, publications received, and special requests for program information.
  • Information provided by the constituent in the form of comments and suggestions.
  • Information on the constituent’s children, if enrolled in any Arts+ programs.

Confidential donor information is kept on file for the IRS and individual donor acknowledgement purposes. It is also used to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make more accurate budget projections, to understand donors’ interests in our mission, and to update them on the organization’s plans and activities. Similarly, confidential registrant and parent information is used to analyze enrollment data, make more accurate budget projections, and plan appropriate communications. This information is shared with staff, board members, volunteers, and consultants on a confidential and need-to-know basis.

When making a financial gift to Arts+ via credit card or while making a payment during the program registration process, all credit card transactions are conducted over a secure server, and credit card information is not retained or stored. If you provide Arts+ with any contact information, you give Arts+ permission to contact you about future events and programs, as well as solicit future contributions. You can opt out of any of these communications by contacting info@artsplus.org or 704.377.4187 or by clicking the opt-out link provided at the bottom of any email communication.

Arts+ uses third-party vendors to process donations and payments made via credit card and manage email communications. These third-party vendors comply with all security commerce guidelines and regulations and with the PCI-DSS requirements for a transaction processor to ensure the integrity and security of your information. Arts+ will never authorize vendors to sell or share your personal information.

Other Information
The Arts+ website automatically records information about your visit in server logs. This information is not personally identifiable. This data is analyzed for trends, insights, and statistics. For example, it may show how many people visited the website during a certain time period. We use a number of web analytics products to optimize our website, including Google Analytics. These tools do not require our site visitors to identify themselves, and they do not provide us any personally identifiable information about our visitors that is not supplied voluntarily.

List Sharing
Arts+ does not sell or share its constituent lists (donor or otherwise) with any other organization. However, Arts+ is an operating support partner of the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte/Mecklenburg, Inc. and does participate in their Cultural Universe data project, where partners share non-identifiable demographic data to help identify new target markets for support.

Discontinuing Contact upon Request
It is the policy of Arts+ to communicate with constituents according to their expressed preferences whenever possible. Arts+ will discontinue or change the method used to contact any person upon that person’s (or a person’s authorized representative’s) oral or written request directed to the organization. Arts+ will also take steps to ensure that no further contact is made with the individual and that the person’s name is removed from any external databases or records under the organization’s control.

Professional Fundraising Standards
Arts+ employs a professional fundraising staff that subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights, which was created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits.
